Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans had nothing but praise for the Millers ground staff yesterday when they managed to train on grass at the training ground.

With snow falling from 9 pm Sunday night and all Monday morning the Millers Boss said that Player Facilities Manager Dave Fellowes was an ‘absolute hero’.

Speaking to MillersPlayer, Evans said, ‘We were together on Saturday morning at Roundwood and I was on the phone to him on Sunday morning and he said he’d get us half a pitch. And I thought he’d had too many glasses of red but he’s almost done it.

‘It’s fantastic that he’s produced a surface for us to train on today and it’s a big, big thanks to the ground staff. It was good to get back on the training ground and get a feel of it because we were indoors most of last week.

Asked if everyone had managed to get in due to the bad roads, Steve said, ‘We started later than normal to give them more time but I think we are all indebted to the people who get out and clear the roads.’
