Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans told Radio Sheffield that it took the ‘goal of the century` to break his Millers side at Preston North End yesterday.

Alex Revell had given the Millers the lead on twenty-one minutes but the ‘goal of the century` came a few minutes into the second half from Preston`s Joe Garner which even had the majority of the Millers fans applauding it.

Speaking after the one-all draw yesterday the Millers Boss said, ‘If there is a better goal in the play-offs this year then I’ll wake up a chicken.

‘At lunchtime today we`d have taken the draw and I am so proud of my players tonight. We lost the likes of Kieran (Agard) and then during the game we lost more players who we`ve worked hard with to get our shape ready for tonight but whatever player we put in whatever position gave us everything they`d got. They have such a desire to win football matches and, I think, if all the chances are taken today we`d have won.

‘Apart from their goal Adam Collin hasn’t had a great deal to do which is testament to all my team. From Revell and Wes Thomas we defended from the front and I think we attacked from the back and caused a good team real problems.

‘We go level into the game at the New York on Thursday and if it`s a repeat of this evening then it`s another fantastic game. And we have home advantage where our support have the opportunity to make the type of noise the Preston fans made today who I thought were absolutely stunning as a home support. And our supporters turned up in big numbers and go home happy with an acceptable result.`
