Rotherham United Manager, Steve Evans said that today`s performance was excellent.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield after the one-all draw with Northampton Town at Don Valley, Evans said, ‘The performance was excellent and they`ve been outplayed but we still lack that bit of quality in certain areas which we are going to work on.

‘I was disappointed with the last minute of course because they never really had a shot at goal. They should also have been down to ten men and they shouldn`t have got a free-kick. But, listen, it`s the last day of the season but it`s annoying because it`s always good to finish on a win and we had umpteen chances to win today but we weren`t clinical in the final third. But, we`ll try to address that but it`s going to take a lot of hard work.

‘We`ve had a couple of players drop out overnight. Ryan Cresswell has gone out with illness and we were down to a couple of kids and Paul Warne drafted onto the bench. Which was nice for Warney because it wasn`t part of the script when we left the training ground yesterday and neither was two of the kids, but we were down to limited numbers with illness and little injuries. But that`s something you have to deal with.

‘We were glad when the final whistle went but I think he played about ten seconds over the time he`d added on when they scored. I think the referee will be glad the close season is coming because he`s not had a good one.

‘We go into the close season with great momentum and we`re moving them back home to Rotherham. I think the football club has been treated impeccably, for four years, by the people at Don Valley but I think we know it`s not conducive to football especially at the level that Rotherham United want to play at.

‘But, we know what we’ve got to do and how to do it.’
