Rotherham United got permission from Aston Villa to play Courtney Cameron in this afternoon’s FA Cup tie with Notts County and due to injuries the nineteen year old was played at left back.

Speaking about this after the draw with Notts County, Millers Boss Steve Evans said, ‘Courtney’s played forty or fifty times at left-back for Villa’s Under Twenty-ones. I didn’t think he got as far forward today and was probably a little bit nervous and didn’t play his natural game. But we’ll work on that.’

To be fair, I thought the lad was targeted a bit by the County players today and, although not his natural position, I think he did stand firm.

Also given permission to play was to play Jack O’Connell (Blackburn Rovers) although he was an unused sub while Lee Frecklington, who is on loan from Peterborough, played in the first round as well as today.

The only loanee missing was Liam Ridehalgh, who it was thought the club were going to ask Huddersfield Town’s permission to play him.

When asked about this after today’s game, Millers Boss Steve Evans said, ‘We think there is something in the rules that dictate that if you aren’t eligible to play in the first game, apart from injury or suspension, then you aren’t allowed to play in the next round.’
