Rotherham United Manager Steve Evans says that he is a ‘proud man` who will always stand up for his team.

Speaking to Les Payne of The Star the Millers manager admitted that a clean bill of health would be an asset to get the team in the top places but also said that when we get through this period of having a crippling injury list the club will be in contention.

Touching on the defeat away to Dagenham and Redbridge on Saturday, Evans said, ‘The lads know they have let themselves and everyone connected to the Millers down, but now we need a positive reaction. We have got good players here, and terrific and loyal supporters who deserve better, but over the season they will get the prize they want.

‘Those that need some match time will play in a training ground game while others will be working on our shape and patterns of play twice a day.`

I actually think that was part of the problem on Saturday – there was no pattern at all. No one seemed to know where they should have been or where the person they were passing to should have been.

The Millers entertain Cheltenham on Saturday at the New York Stadium with the Millers Boss saying, ‘It is another time for all of us to stand up and be counted. The weak go hiding and the strong stay and fight.`
