Rotherham United’s Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas has told David Beddows of The Rotherham Advertiser that the Millers won’t make the same mistakes as they did last summer.

The Millers didn’t appoint a new Manager (Alan Stubbs) until 1 June, losing a lot of the pre-season planning time.

Although Manager Paul Warne hinted last week that there would be someone named as Manager before the end of the season Mr Douglas says, ‘I think we would want to clarify the matter soon after the end of the season at the latest although I wouldn’t want to put a date on it.

‘I will say that we’ve learned our lesson from last year where it dragged into the latter part of May and June which was a factor in our struggles at the start of the season and thereafter.

‘Tony Stewart, myself and the Board want to go into next season with someone in place in good time for them to assess the current squad and work with our Head of Recruitment Jamie Johnson to bring in the players we want.

‘Personally, I have to say that despite the results and the circumstances with injuries and not being able to bring in the players we wanted in January because of our league position, Paul Warne has managed to create a great atmosphere.’
