Rotherham United Chief Operating Officer, Paul Douglas is fairly confident that the game on Friday at Roots Hall against Southend will go ahead.

Speaking to MillersPlayer Mr Douglas said, ‘Whilst the forecasts aren’t great it seems that things look likely to start to improve from Thursday onwards and, as we speak, we are certainly planning to travel down early Friday morning.

‘The onus is on the home club to try and make sure that as little disruption as possible is caused and I’m sure they will desperately want to get the game on. But, they will be balancing that desire with the costs of not getting it on such as policing and catering and then if we happen to set off and the games off then they would have to pay for our travel expenses. They will bear all this in mind but ultimately it will be down to the referee and if he considers the pitch is safe to play on. But, like us with Torquay, they will be looking at the forecast and will want to make a decision and I will be surprised if we don’t hear from them in the next twenty-four hours if they have got any concerns.’

On a purely selfish note I hope, if it’s going to be called off, then it will be done Thursday at the latest.
