Rotherham United striker Matt Derbyshire says that the Millers can build on what Neil Warnock has started next season.

Having nothing but praise for Neil Warnock’ the thirty year old told The Advertiser, ‘He is able to relax you and take the pressure off while letting us go out and enjoy our football.

‘Any Manager can be fantastic but if you’re not not playing then, as an individual, it’s not good so he is up there with the best Managers I’ve worked with purely because of what we have done and because I’m playing.

‘I can see us doing well next season if the Gaffer is here.’

Speaking about the season that will end on Saturday, Darbs said, ‘I never thought we’d go down. I look around the dressing room every single day and look at the good players in there. Knowing you have those lads on the pitch at your side is important. I knew things didn’t got well in the middle of the season but I always knew we would stay up.

‘The turning point for me was when we beat Middlesbrough here. You should have been the confidence in the players after that.’

Matt is one of the players out of contract in the summer and with the comment of ‘I can see US doing well if Warnock is still here next season’ it makes me wonder if the Gaffer does sign on for another year with the Millers if it will make it easier for the striker to say ‘yes’ to a new contract.
