RUFC – Defender Wants To Give Fans A Win Today

Rotherham United defender Ben Purrington said although he’d enjoyed going back to his former club Plymouth last weekend the result wasn’t what the Millers were looking for.

‘We had some good chances,’ the twenty-one year old told iFOLLOW, ‘and missed some good chances.

‘But we’ve got to move on from that and think about Blackpool and then hopefully get through the play-offs.

‘It’s important that we get that fourth position and although it’s good to get some momentum going into the play-offs it wouldn’t be disastrous if we didn’t win. The play-offs are about the team who perform the best over three games but of course we want to win against Blackpool. It will be a good test today.

‘The fans have been giving us good support all season and we want to repay them and give them a good win before moving onto the play-offs.’

If Ben plays today it will be his seventh consecutive game, his longest run in a Rotherham team due to injury. ‘It’s been great to get back in the side,’ he said. ‘We’ve had a few good wins and kept a few clean sheets. With Joe (Mattock) performing well it was hard to get back in after the injury but I just had to be patient, train hard and keep my head down and it’s paid off in the end.
