Rotherham United skipper, Ryan Cresswell will be pleased to get this year out of the way.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield, the twenty-two year old, who was stretchered off on Saturday with a broken collar bone, said, ‘It seems to be one thing after the other. I just want to get this injury out of the way, get 2010 out of the way and start afresh.

‘This has come at a bad time and I’m gutted. We’ve a lot of games coming up and to get a run in the side would have been great and I’m devastated.’

Ryan, who is thought to have had surgery on his shoulder this morning, which includes having a metal plate and screws inserted, says that he is determined to be one hundred per cent fit in six weeks. ‘We thought it would be a three month lay off but now it’s only two months,’ he said, ‘and I hope to be back in the team in eight weeks.’
