Rotherham United’s latest signing Conor Newton has told MillersPlayer that he is excited about his move to the New York Stadium.

‘I’m really looking forward to it,’ the twenty-two year old former Newcastle United midfielder said, ‘and I hope the boys can get a good result on Sunday.’

Saying he first heard that the Millers were interested in him about a week ago, Conor carried on, ‘I knew the Gaffer was up in Scotland watching me and it all went from there and happened quite quickly after that.

‘This club is definitely going in the right direction whether in the Championship or League One it isn’t a major thing for me because I’m just looking forward to playing with Rotherham in the New York Stadium. I’ve spoken to Steve Evans and he’s full of passion and wants to win football games and I’m looking forward to working under him.’

Conor has been out on loan to St Mirren for eighteen months saying, ‘I wasn’t getting first team football at Newcastle so it was an option for me to go out there and make a name for myself and it’s been good for me and a good learning curve. I played every game and it’s stood me in good stead. Now it’s time for me to move on.’

Asked what he would bring to the Millers Conor said, ‘I can get about the pitch and have a good touch but like to play things simple. ‘
