Rotherham United earned what could possibly be one of the most needed points since Steve Evans arrived when they drew with Norwich City who came with a mind to get points to take them into an automatic promotion spot.

Having had a bad decision from the Football League which including taking three points off us all Millers fans were, obviously, watching at the New York Stadium willing on the team but also had our eyes and ears were on the games involving Wigan and Millwall.

Groans from three sides of the ground were heard when news that Millwall were one-up at Derby County and doubled when the Lions scored another from the penalty spot. Hopes lifted just before half-time when Tom Ince pulled one back for the Rams but five minutes into the second half we had news that Millwall had got another penalty and made it three-one. Then the stomach punch came with Norwich scoring (and it was a very good goal) but it really came from an error on the half-way line. So now, we needed Derby to start scoring and the Millers to get some of the shots they were having on target. A Derby penalty saw them get back into the game at The Den and when we heard Jeff Hendrick had equalised for the Rams the noise in the New York Stadium intensified and we were willing the lads to score. And that’s what Jordan Bowery did! With a point for us and a point for Millwall and Wigan narrowly losing at home to Wolves things at the bottom of The Championship were ‘as you were’ going into the games.

Championship Results
Brighton 0-2 Watford
Sheff Weds 1-2 Leeds
Birmigham 1-0 Charlton
Cardiff 3-2 Blackpool
Fulham 4-3 Birmingham
Huddersfield 2-2 Blackburn
Ipswich 2-1 Nottingham Forest
Millwall 3-3 Derby
Reading 0-2 Brentford
Rotherham 1-1 Norwich
Wigan 0-1 Wolves

Rotherham and Reading play on Tuesday night and if the Millers get all three points then they will be in the Championship next season. A draw would mean we need to get something at Leeds next Saturday We don’t want to think about what might happen if we lose. And, of course, Wigan are still hanging on with the skin of their teeth.

Things hotted up at the top of the league and with Norwich only getting a point and Middlesbrough losing at the end of the games Watford were promoted to the Premier League. Bournemouth play this evening and if they win it will mean Middlesbrough need to win their final game by something like fifteen-nil!

But it is all to play for at the top with Middlesbrough and Norwich certain of a play-off spot and Ipswich, Derby, Brentford and Wolves all vying to be the other two up there with them.
