Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart has told David Beddows of The Advertiser that the people who wasted his time when he was looking to appoint a new Manager ‘annoyed’ him.

Although Mr Stewart wouldn’t name names he said, ‘There were two managers employed at the time who pestered our lives out for interviews. But when we put it in writing to their clubs they said ‘thank you but no thank you’.

‘I rang one of their Chairmen to make him aware that his manager had pestered us only to get himself in a National Newspaper telling the World he had turned down Rotherham United.

‘All they were doing were enhancing their careers and I was very annoyed. Unfortunately this can happen but football is a small business and these names you will never forget.’

Although the Chairman won’t tell us who the names Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, currently managing Burton Albion, came out in the media saying that he’d turned the Millers down.
