Rotherham United Chairman Tony Stewart says that he is calm.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield this evening Mr Stewart said, ‘I don’t get emotional. There’s a job to be done, I take responsibility for that and someone has to be calm at all times. My deliberations are what I can do and not what I can’t do.’

Going on to talk about the Millers next Manager, the Chairman said, ‘We’ve had forty-six applicants. We are presently going through them to prepare a short list which will hopefully be this week. Then the shortlist will get down to six then down to two.

‘We are looking for a Manager in the successful mode of Steve Evans and Neil Warnock with drive and push, someone who kicks every ball

‘At the moment we’ve got Paul Warne and John Breckin who are two steady people, Warney is the young, fit healthy one while Breckin has the experience. Someone who has passion because I think we’ve probably lacked that with the last two Managers. We are looking at permanency, a long fix. Someone who can get sleeves rolled up and get in the trenches. But as well as that they need to have experience. And I think that’s what the fans want too.

‘It is important to make sure we get the right man in and we may need to do more research and ask more questions about the person we recruit. And the candidate has to be someone we think will progress with Rotherham United.’

Mr Stewart was asked about the training ground and he replied, ‘We’ve spent about £250 grand at Roundwood and we’ve shown we’d like to pursuit greater things down there. If we can get things battened down no later than January then Parkgate is the place we want to be.

‘We’ve never had a Manager whose said the facilities aren’t right – all they are bothered about is what the pitches are like and the same man who does the pitches at the New York Stadium does the ones at Parkgate.

‘We do want to improve the training facilities to have the best we need. Its been good for eight years and will be prepared to spend more money there.’
