Rotherham United’s latest addition to the coaching staff John Breckin told MillersPlayer today that he was happy to help.

‘Paul (Warne) and I had a little chat after Saturday’s game but the ‘phone call came on Sunday morning,’ Breck said, ‘and he asked if I could help in any way.

‘And I really am honoured to be asked and if I can help in any way I will.

‘He’s asked me to come in and give him a hand and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll do anything he wants, I’ll answer the telephone, make a cup of tea, anything he wants. We go back a long, long way so I don’t foresee any problems.

‘I know the game and I’ve got a lot of contacts in the game but really it’s the club. I was asked to come back three seasons ago and work in the hospitality and I enjoyed that. It is my club. I’ve had offers from other clubs for scouting and various other roles but I’ve not really been interested in them. But when Rotherham United comes calling and they need a bit of help then I’m fine by that.

‘I remember the first time I saw Warney in a Johnstone’s Paint game when we played Wigan and he tormented us all night and was a pain! We ‘phoned Wigan and were lucky to get him on loan. Wherever he’s played he’s all heart and gives everything and he’s been a great servant to this club. He’s infectious and he really does work hard but you don’t need me to say that because everybody knows that.’
