Rotherham United midfielder, Mark Bradley has had nothing but praise from him Manager, Andy Scott for the last two games where he has played ‘out of position` in defence.
Like many professional footballers, Mark has said, that, as long as he`s playing he doesn`t really mind where he plays and I`ve got to say, he seems to have taken to being an attacking defender (if there is such a position!) like a duck to water.
Like the rest of the side he played his socks off at Southend last Friday night and on Tuesday night at Don Valley, for me, he was easily the Man of the Match.
After the Tuesday night win against Accrington Stanley, the twenty-four year old told MillersPlayer that he thought the Millers defended as a team, saying, ‘I can’t remember Rhys (Taylor) having to make a save, so that is obviously pleasing to the back four. Clean sheets win games at this level and the lads have worked hard from the front to the back and we’ve limited them to practically no shots and kept another clean sheet.’
The game was won by a penalty from Shaun Harrad, although it was Mark himself who won the spot kick and he said, ‘I was just about to swing my left foot and he’s brought me down. But, I’m not sure why he didn’t get even a yellow card and I’m sure it was a red because I was just about to score. Obviously, it was pleasing for me to get that far forward because I enjoy that part of the game.’
Manager, Andy Scott, has said that he was impressed with the way Kieron Cadogan and Mark played together last night and Mark said, ‘Yes, I think we did alright to be fair going forward with the ball. Obviously we are trying to get the defence sorted and I haven’t played much there this season because it’s only my third game back and hopefully I can be in the team and if I play well the gaffer keeps me in. I like to play centre-midfield but as long as I’m playing games I’m happy because I like doing a job for the team. I’ve played left-wing, right-wing, centre-half, centre-mid and now right-back and hopefully the gaffer will see me as a versatile player to fit in his plans.
‘It’s always nice to get three points for the fans and it’s always a good feeling, as a group, coming in knowing you’ve won and that we’ve climbed the table to eighth. When you win games it builds confidence in the lads and coming away with two wins and two clean sheets we can take that momentum into the next games. Hopefully now we can push on for the next game at Burton and get another three points which will leave us in good stead for the rest of the season.’
