RUFC Big Games coming up!

Another disappointing weekend on the Millers front and what have we got to look forward to? I hate the way professional pundits always talk about “massive” games but look at the next 4 games coming up, all against teams above the Millers. Massive in the short term future as we need results to try to hang to any hope of being “there or thereabouts” or the season will be over now!

We`ve said we needed a good cup run and we got to the fourth round. League form is sporadic at best. We haven`t won 3 games on the trot since November. Ten won and ten lost so far in this campaign is hardly the stuff of dreams.

Speaking last week to Sky Sports, Dale Tonge tells us he thinks the squad is good enough to get promotion. Well if they think that, why isn`t it happening? As I`ve said before, you look at the players signed under this management team and the ones that appeared to have the best prospects of shining in this division have barely featured. I`m talking Pringle and Brown here in particular. So if the players that are being picked aren`t doing what`s asked of them, what is the purpose of squad players putting pressure on? Give them a chance.

So here it is. If this team`s as good as the players think and fans hope then the next four games are the ones where the players must stand up and be counted as a team. Andy Scott has asked some players to “Grow a pair” well start now. The thought of being 4 games nearer the end of the season and still having 37 points is daunting.

It could be a long couple of months if the results go wrong. Fans are getting restless as they`ve seen the chairman appear to give unflinching support and we need to be bringing fans in when league rules mean salary levels dependant upon gate receipts and income. Four games, four wins??please!
