Rotherham United Chairman, Tony Stewart has called the bids by Coventry City for striker, Adam Le Fondre a ‘publicity stunt’.

Speaking to the Yorkshire Post, Mr Stewart said, ‘City came in with a joke bid a fortnight or so ago but I am sure they weren`t serious. I got the impression it was more a case of them wanting to show their supporters that they were trying to do something.’

It is thought that Coventry have made more than one bid for the Millers’ top striker, with the last one probably involving money and a player exchange, probably with Clive Platt.

Mr Stewart also dissed a bid, thought to be around £300k, from Sheffield Wednesday, saying, ‘I laughed when I saw the bid – it was less than we paid Rochdale for him. It wasn’t enough. As a businessman, I don`t want anybody trying to take me to the cleaners.’
