Rotherham United’s Assistant Manager Richie Barker told Radio Sheffield that new boy Michael Smith isn’t that far from where they want him to be.

Michael joined the Millers last week from Bury and came off the bench for around twenty minutes at Oldham last weekend.

After saying there were no new injury problems at the New York Stadium, Richie said, ‘It was difficult when Michael first came in to be thrown in after just forty-eight hours.

‘He hadn’t enough knowledge of what we expect from him and probably not quite enough knowledge about the players round about him. He’s had a good week under his belt now ad feels a lot more comfortable of what’s expected of him.

‘We will certainly be seeing him on the pitch at some point tomorrow though he’s not played that much football so if he starts the game I imagine he’d find it difficult to see the game through.’

The Millers Number Two was asked about anyone coming in before Tuesday to which he replied, ‘I’d be very surprised but maybe.

‘In an ideal world we’d like to get people in within four or five days of the Bradford game (which is on Tuesday) because we don’t want it going to the last day of the window.’
