Rotherham United’s Assistant Manager Richie Barker is hoping that the work the players did in pre-season will start to show now at the business end of the season.

Speaking to iFOLLOW the Millers number two said, ‘Some of these lads have played the best part of forty games now and so the fatigue starts to kick in now.

‘We’ve got to keep them fresh and still make sure they are one of the fittest groups in this competition.

‘And this is where pre-season comes in. It wasn’t about the results in August or September it’s now when the results are bearing fruit off the back of the hard work that was done in pre-season. And hopefully the rewards we get from that will push us over the line.’

The Millers pre-season consisted off a couple of games out in Austria plus games against local non-league sides as well as games against league clubs Sheffield United, Chesterfield and Barnsley.
