Rotherham United Manager, Ronnie Moore has told top goalscorer, Adam Le Fondre to be greedy.

Alfie scored his twenty-fourth goal at Burton last Saturday – or he says he did! From where I was sat, I couldn’t tell if he’d touched the ball or not and even after looking at highlights of the game, it’s still unclear whether he got a touch before it went over the line from an Andy Warrington free kick!

‘Whether he touched the ball or not,’ Moore told The Advertiser, ‘he’ll be claiming it!’

Speaking about his top striker, his manager said, ‘The thing with Alfie is that he’s fantastic in the box. And, once we improve his play out-of-the-box, then he’ll be even better. There’s a player and a half in there.’

The modern-day record for Rotherham United is held by Alan Crawford who scored thirty-one goals in the 1976/7 season.

The record for scoring most goals in a season has been held since 1946/7 by
Wally Arden who got forty goals in the Old Division Three North.

Still some way to go, Alfie – but, maybe next season . . . .
