Rotherham United fans have voted former striker Alan Lee as their greatest ever player.

The poll was part of the Football League’s one hundred and twenty-fifth Anniversary celebrations in which nearly 100,000 votes were cast.

After a short loan spell Alan joined the Millers in November 2000 from Burnley for a fee reported to be around £150,000 and in his first season scored fifteen times to help the Millers get promotion from the Second Division. Alan stopped with the Millers until August 2003 and played over one hundred games scoring more than forty goals.

Alan topped the Millers poll in front of players such as Gladstone Guest, Ronnie Moore, Dave Watson and Gerry Forest.

Voted as Rotherham United’s greatest captain is Kevin Watson who made over one hundred appearances helping the Millers to two promotions.
