Rotherham United have signed winger, Lionel Ainsworth today, subject to a medical.

Twenty-four year old Lionel began his career with Derby County and, after going out several times on loan, moved to Hereford for the start of the 2007/8 season. After playing just fifteen games for the Bulls he went out on loan to Watford who signed him permanently in January 2008. While with Watford he was sent out back to Hereford on loan for a month to get match fit. On January 2009 Lionel moved to Huddersfield Town before he moved to Shrewsbury in the summer of 2010 on a free transfer.

Lionel played thirty-four games for the Shrews this season scoring two goals and helping them to promotion before being told his contract wouldn’t be renewed and becoming a free agent.

Lionel has England caps at U16, U17, U18 and U19 level.
