Rotherham United Head Coach Leam Richardson told Radio Sheffield that today’s performance from his team was a ‘battling’ one.

Speaking after the goalless draw the Millers Boss said, ‘I thought we started the game terrifically well and was disappointed not to be one-nil up at half-time.

‘In the second half both teams were very competitive, not giving much up, and they blocked the middle of the pitch. We’ve got to do better with our habits and go wide, change play more and could have counter-pressed better.

‘We competed very well and won many duels around the pitch but it’s disappointing obviously when we’ve got possession of the ball and they’re down to 10 men that we didn’t win the game.

‘I feel we’ve done this a lot here (at the New York Stadium) since I came, had a moment of quality and not taken it then, like Watford, they have one and take it. So today, I’m disappointed in many ways but then look at the positives of a clean sheet, lads who have been out injured for some time returning which makes the competition for places better to tackle the next eight games.’

And the injuries? Both Jordan Hugill and Christ Tiehi were missing today injured with Leam saying, ‘we are waiting for the medical team to clarify their injuries and we’ll know more next week.’ Hakeem Odoffin was on the bench but with his ‘little bits and bobs of injuries and the change of shape’ he wasn’t introduced.
