Both teams fought hard in an entertaining game yesterday evening at Barnsley.

Barnsley saw the return of injured ‘keeper Heinz Muller and the home team got off to a good start when they got a penalty after two minutes and Jamil Adam cooly slotted the ball home past Steven Cann in the Millers goal. Eight minutes later, Adam lobbed Cann for his and Barnsley’s second goal. But the Millers started to fight back and with half an hour of the game gone, Mark Burchill challenged Muller in the air from an Omar Garcia cross and the loose ball fell to Jamie Yates who tapped it over the line. Five minutes before half-time, trialist Garcia got passed the Reds defence and into the area. The Spaniard passed the ball to Yates, who said ‘thank you very much’ and rifled the ball in to make it two all.

Barnsley came out of the starting blocks the quicker in the second half and after six minutes a Jacob Butterfield free kick found Robert Atkinson who headed the ball past Cann. But the Millers never gave up and twelve minutes from time Marcus Haber sent a low cross to Marc Newsham who tapped the ball over the line for the equaliser.
