Rotherham United played a reserve game this afternoon which saw some of the ‘non-regular’ or ‘injured’ first team players get a run-out.

The Central League Cup game against Bolton Wanderers was a three-one win for the Millers with Georgie Kelly scoring in the opening minute from a Conor Washington cross. The Rotherham striker thought he’d doubled the score ten minutes later but an off-side flag cut his celebration short which was followed by a Bolton equaliser on the quarter of an hour mark from a stunning free-kick. On eighteen minutes Tolaji Bola won a penalty which Kelly duly put away. Curtis Durose sent a ball in which the Wanderers ‘keeper did well to get hold of before Josh Vickers in the Millers goal did the same at the other end. Bolton’s ‘keeper then saved from Washington with the Millers going in at half-time two-one up.

Curtis Durose twice had shots saved in the opening minutes of the second-half before the Bolton ‘keeper also saved a Scott High free-kick. A High corner on fifty-five minutes eventually found Conor Washington who made it three-one to Rotherham from close range. Hakeem Odoffin and Georgie Kelly both had more chances which went either wide or high before the Bolton ‘keeper did well again to save from High pushing the ball round the post.

Curtis Durose was given just under seventy minutes on the pitch this afternoon with Brooke Norton-Cuffy and Conor Washington coming off with ten minutes to go followed by Georgie Kelly who was subbed on eighty-three minutes. Hakeem Odoffin and Tolaji Bola both played ninety minutes.

I would expect at least two of those subbed to start on Saturday against Bristol City at the New York Stadium with the others probably on the bench.
