Ref Watch – Millers v Southampton

Rotherham United welcome Southampton to the New York Stadium on Saturday when Sunny Singh Gill has the whistle and will be the first time he’s been in the middle for a Millers game.

At the age of fifteen Sunny completed a referee course to follow in his father, Jarnail Singh’s, footsteps in becoming a referee and last year became the first British South Asian to take charge of a League game since his dad did more than thirteen years earlier.

He has been in the middle for thirty games this season, in all cup competitions and all three of the English Football League, his first Championship game coming in December at the King Power Stadium.

In those thirty games he has shown one hundred and nineteen yellow cards and five red.

Running the line on Saturday we have Matthew Jones and James Wilson. The Fourth Official will be Leigh Doughty.
