Rotherham United travel to Spotland on Saturday when they take on Brian Barry-Murphy’s Rochdale where Ross Joyce from Cleveland has the whistle.

Ross has been refereeing since the age of fifteen when he began in the middle in Cleveland for a junior game and in 2007 he began refereeing in the Blue Square Premier League. The beginning of the 2013/14 season saw him in charge of games in the Football Conference before being appointed to the Football League in August 2015.

This will be the third time Ross has been in charge of a Millers game, the first being at the New York Stadium for the last game of the 2017/18 season when Blackpool were the visitors. A Will Vaulks goal thirteen minutes into the second half was the only goal of the game with Michael Ihiekwe getting the only yellow card that day.

Ross was in the middle at our game in November at Stadium:mk which saw Alex Gilbey and Joe Mason give MK Dons an early lead. The Millers thought back in the second half with a sixty-six minute goal from Dan Barlaser and two further goals from half-time substitute Freddie Ladapo gave Rotherham all three points. Ross sent off Baily Cargill in the final minute of the game after an altercation with the Rotherham bench.

Of the twenty-six games Ross has been in charge of this season he has shown one hundred and twelve yellow cards and three red cards the first being to former Millers loanee Stephen Quinn who is now plying his trade with Burton Albion.

Running the line on Saturday we have Wayne Grunnill and Hristo Karaivanov with the Fourth Official being Alix Pashley.
