Rotherham United are back in league action on Saturday when they travel to take on Fleetwood Town where Robert Lewis from Shrewsbury has the whistle.

This will be the second time Rob has been in the middle for a Rotherham game the first being in August when the Millers travelled to the DW Stadium where a goal in five minutes of injury time at the end of the game from Will Keane gave Wigan the win.

Back in January 2018 saw him in the middle when we travelled to Boundary Park to take on Oldham Athletic. The game ended one-all, both goals coming in the first half, Ryan Williams scoring for Rotherham and Craig Davies replying for the hosts. He had also been in charge of our game earlier that season away at Fleetwood, which Rotherham lost two-nil followed by our Checkatrade game away at Bradford in the November when goals from Jerry Yates, Jonson Clarke-Harris (from the penalty spot) and Richie Towell gave us a three-nil win.

His first time in charge of a Millers game was at Don Valley in November 2010 when Northampton were the visitors. Ryan Taylor and Marcus Marshall put the Milers two up in nineteen minutes but the Cobblers scored two goals in two minutes to make it two-two five minutes later. Abdul Osman and Andy Holt got the visitors goals. That day Rob showed yellow cards to Jamie Annerson, Kevin Ellison and Mark Bradley of the Millers and Northampton’s Marcus Hall and Dean Beckworth.

Rob had the whistle in two Millers games the following season. Firstly our game at Sixfields when Gareth Evans put Rotherham in front on just two minutes then a bizarre own goal from Conrad Logan on twenty-four minutes gave the Cobblers a share of the points. He was then in charge of our game with Bristol Rovers in February when a goal in the final minute of the game gave Rovers the three points.

He took charge of our game at the New York Stadium against Wycombe Wanderers in November 2012. Daniel Nardiello scored in the opening minute only for Dave Winfield to equalise just before the half-hour mark. Six minutes later Mark Bradley put the Millers back in front but two goals in the second half from Matt McClure sent Wycombe home with all three points.

December 2013 saw him in the middle for our League One game at Vale Park when Louis Dodds put the hosts in front on eight minutes with Kieran Agard seeing a penalty saved by Vale’s Sam Johnson after James Tavernier was bundled over in the box. On fifty-four minutes the Millers went down to ten when Claude Davies kicked out at former Miller Tom Pope and Pope made it worse for his former team when his flick on to Gavin Tomlin saw the Vale striker make it two-nil.

So far this season Rob has shown forty-two yellow cards – five in the game at Wigan the only one to a Miller being Wes Harding – and one red card in the fifteen games he has been in the middle for.

Running the line on Saturday we have Joe Simpson and Anthony Moore while Alan Clayton is the Fourth Official.

If we’d just found our defending touch in those final couple of minutes, CinL, . . . hey ho. No, the fighting amongst ourselves is ridiculous.
