Rotherham United’s last game before Christmas sees them travelling the short distance to Field Mill take on Mansfield Town.

Sitting comfortably in mid-table the Stags have lost two and drawn one in December – their last home game seeing them lost two-one to Huddersfield Town, all goals coming the the opening thirty-three minutes.

The Millers come into this game six places and two points worse off than Mansfield. Their three games in December have all been at home and have all been wins, two in the league and one in the Vertu Trophy with their last away game being a one-nil loss at Crawley.

Speaking to the Stags Official Site Manager Nigel Clough said he expects the Millers to be in ‘good spirits’ after Saturday’s home win saying, ‘they’ve had a few good results but we’ve got to take the confidence from our game on Saturday into this game. Our last home performance against Huddersfield was good and we were unlucky to lose. The Christmas period is absolutely vital with fifteen points at stake.’

Mansfield will be without Lee Gregory who has a knee injury and Louis Reed who is suspended. It’s hopeful that Ben Quinn who is suffering with a shoulder problem will make the squad.

Millers Boss Steve Evans, agreed with his counterpart Nigel Clough, saying that ‘it’s important’ that his Rotherham side have a good Christmas period, saying, ‘there are a lot of games in a two week spell but you have to focus on one game at a time,’ before telling the Official site, ‘And our first one is a difficult game away at Mansfield who got promotion under Nigel, have a fanatic fan base and will give us issues tomorrow. But we have to be able to deal with that. There’s huge respect both ways between Nigel and myself and he’s  very passionate about his football.’

Injuries for Rotherham have eased lately although Sean Raggett won’t be available for this game after surgery in mid-week while Christ Tiehi is a doubt after suffering a shoulder and face injury.

The referee on Saturday is Zac Kennard-Kettle  which is the first time he has been in the middle for either side in a league game.
