The first South Yorkshire derby of the season sees Sheffield Wednesday at the New York Stadium this evening.

The Millers come into this on the back of a three-nil away loss to Reading while the Owls also lost at the weekend at home to Luton Town.

Having started the season on minus twelve points, for breaking spending rules, the Owls are still in minus points coming into this game while the Millers are in nineteenth place with six points.

Apart from the two long term injured – Chieo Ogbene and Clark Robertson – Rotherham have no new injury issues for this evenings game. Carrying a slight knock Jamal Blackman should start but missing through suspension is Angus MacDonald while we might see a couple of changes tonight from Saturday’s game.

Speaking to iFOLLOWMillers Boss Paul Warne said he thought the Owls had done quite well so far this season. ‘They’ve got some good players and good experience in the Championship. They play different systems,’ the Gaffer said, ‘so I don’t know how they will play tonight. But I do feel that Garry Monk has got the group of players he wants and he’ll be pleased with that and the performances they’ve been putting in.’

Having seen red on Saturday centre-half Joost van Aken will be missing for the visitors with Julian Borner looking set to replace him. Liam Palmer, who is on the mend after a back problem, could also get a start and we could see former Millers’ fans’ favourite Izzy Brown, who has been out injured, get some minutes on the pitch. The game might come too soon for Massimo Luongo and Liam Shaw but Dominic Iorfa and Tom Lees could feature.

Owls Boss Garry Monk told Radio Sheffield after Saturday’s defeat that his team have to come out fighting back for this game saying, ‘They are a stronger outfit than they were last time in the Championship. It will be a difficult game and we have to match their fight and come out on top.’

The Referee for tonight’s game is Australian Jarred Gillett.
