Quick Preview – Millers v Owls

|

Rotherham United travel to take on fellow strugglers Sheffield Wednesday at Hillsborough this evening with the hosts having new man Darren Moore in charge for the first time.

The Owls start this game on twenty-eight points in twenty-third place in the Championship while the Millers are one point and one place better off. Sheffield Wednesday last won at home on 9th February two-nil against bottom placed Wycombe while Rotherham’s last away win was three days earlier beating Preston North End two-one.

Both teams got six points in February with tonight’s hosts letting in twelve goals in seven games and the Millers seven goals in the same number of games.

Sheffield Wednesday have Andre Green out with an Achilles injury, goalkeeper Kieren Westwood has broken ribs, a knee injury is keeping Massimo Luongo out and also missing are Joost van Aken Moses Odubajo, Dominic Iorfa and Cameron Dawson. But, Liam Shaw is back from suspension

The new Manager told their Official Site that they know the threats that Rotherham carry saying, ‘it’s going to be a really good game and one we are looking forward too.’

Rotherham United have Clark Robertson out after limping off on Saturday with a hamstring problem alongside Chieo Ogbene, Jamie Lindsay and Joe Mattock who are all suffering injuries while Michael Ihiekwe is out suspended. Richard Wood has missed the last two games and is rated doubtful for tonight.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield Millers Boss Paul Warne admitted it was a ‘massive shock’ to find out that Darren Moore had been appointed the Owls’ manager saying, ‘I think Sheffield Wednesday have done well to get him and if I was a fan of theirs I’d be very happy. We thought they were going to play one way and all of a sudden Darren got the job and and now you’re preparing to play a team like it is the first game of the season because you don’t know what team he’ll pick or which system he’ll use. The lads know the importance of the game and hopefully I can  smile after the game because we’ve performed well and come away with something.’

The referee for this South Yorkshire derby is Darren Bond from Lancashire.
