Rotherham United take on Northampton Town on Saturday afternoon at the New York Stadium which will be twentieth place taking on seventeenth.

The Millers come into this game on the back of two wins – at home to Lincoln at the beginning of December then in the Vertu Trophy again at home to Tranmere Rovers while having one in the middle of those postponed due to Storm Darragh.

Sitting two places above Rotherham the Cobblers have played two games more than the hosts and lost away to Stevenage, which a couple of days later saw Manager Jon Brady resign, while getting a two-one home win against Peterborough last Monday.

Millers Manager Steve Evans emphasised how important winning the last two games was telling the Official Site, ‘Winning breeds confidence and spirit, you can’t buy that.

‘Three points against Northampton would be a huge boost to us going into the Christmas games and it could be that if we get seven or nine points in the Christmas games it could bounce us into the top ten.’

Say it quietly but there are no reported injuries for the Millers ahead of this game.

Town’s caretaker Manager Ian Sampson told their Official Site that he was ‘surprised’ where the Millers are in the league table saying, ‘Looking at the players they have recruited it is a surprise that Rotherham aren’t higher but then it does take a bit of time for a new team to gel. I’m sure they will get it right but hopefully not on Saturday.

‘We will got there positive because it would be a great scalp for us to get a win.’

Ian Sampson said that he’s probably working with two teams at the moment – one who he has out on the pitch and the other in the treatment room. A hamstring injury has kept out defender Luke Mbete since the beginning of October and he isn’t expected to be available until the end of January while left-backs Patrick Bough, who will be missing with a broken leg and Ali Koiki has a muscle injury. Also missing will be forward Callum Morton.

The referee on Saturday will be Elliot Bell.
