Quick Preview – Millers v Bournemouth

|

Rotherham United travel to Dorset tonight to take on Bournemouth for the first time in just over six years.

Currently in the last play-off place in the Championship, the Cherries won their last home game in a five goal thriller against Birmingham City which ended a four game losing run. The weekend game away against Nottingham Forest was a goalless draw.

After having the weekend’s home game called off for a frozen pitch the Millers are just one place above the relegation spots, but with a couple of games in hand of those around them. Their last away game was a two-one win against Preston North End.

Bournemouth will be without skipper Steve Cook who has a thigh injury but Ben Pearson, who left the field early with an ankle problem at the weekend, will be in  the squad.

Caretaker Manager Jonathan Woodgate was ruing the fact that his captain would be missing telling Bournemouth’s Official Site that he is their main header of a ball, saying, ‘It’s going to be a real challenge, they (Rotherham) have some really big players in their team so we will need to defend well from set plays.’

Rotherham United have no new injury worries ahead of tonight’s game with it looking like Shaun MacDonald has recovered from a calf strain.

Millers Manager Paul Warne told Radio Sheffield that although the Millers respect the opposition they don’t fear them saying, ‘You always get a bit of an impact when there’s a change (in management) and they (Bournemouth) seem to have picked up since Jonathan (Woodgate) took over and are on the ascendancy. They’ve got a phenomenal team and if they play at their absolute best then it’s going to be a long evening but we have to set ourselves up the best way that we can and cause them as many problems as they cause us.’

Keith Stroud from Hampshire has the whistle this evening.
