Rotherham United second consecutive home game sees Birmingham City the visitors to the New York Stadium on Saturday.
The Millers will be hoping to do better than the point they got last weekend against Burton Albion while City come here playing just their second league game of September having beaten Wrexham at St Andrew’s three-one last Monday.
After being relegated alongside the Millers at the end of last season Birmingham are currently sitting pretty in second spot of League One, not having lost a game yet this season, while Rotherham are seventeenth and seven points behind the Blues. Rotherham last won at home on the last day of August, two-one over Huddersfield Town City last won away last month against Leyton Orient.
Speaking to Radio Sheffield Millers Boss Steve Evans called Birmingham City the ‘Galacticos’ of League One saying, ‘they’ve spent twenty million pounds in the transfer window making a huge investment. But I applaud that. My professional opinion is that Birmingham City are capable of one hundred points. Everything about Birmingham City is good but we want to make it not so good on Saturday. We need to be ready for them to come here and produce the same type of performance that we’ve been producing but with an end product.’
Steve Evans will be without Liam Kelly who is missing with a ‘niggly’ groin strain. Long term injured Andre Green is also out. We hear that everyone else is fit to go.
City Manager Chris Davies told Blues TV saying his side will take all the positives from their win over Wrexham and said, ‘The players have recovered from that game and are firmly focused on the next game. Rotherham are a competitive side who have a high volume of long balls, fight for the second ball and put it into the box as soon as possible. They are quite aggressive and press when they can. I’ve watched all their games this season and haven’t seen any opposition who are comfortable against them. From our point of view we need to impose our own game, stretch the opposition, work the ball well and get into good areas.’
Birmingham are looking to be without Lee Buchanan who has been side-lined with a calf injury while Ethan Laird and Luke Harris won’t make it either. Dion Sanderson is also out with a foot problem. Also missing is Krystian Bielik who was sent off on Monday night.
The referee for this game is Preston’s Edward Duckworth

As a Birmingham supporter I have to acknowledge the total honesty and first class interview given by Steve Evan’s today. He showed respect and clear understanding as to how football works when you have ownership with serious funding. We have waited a long time for decent owners but we will never forget the last ten years of fearing administration. SE recognises proper football.
Just wish we could play ‘proper football’ Mitchell. But nice to hear from you.
