Rotherham United’s South Yorkshire derby with Sheffield United takes place on Saturday when kick-off time is 1230 at the New York Stadium.

The Millers are currently twentieth in the Championship while their neighbours are sitting pretty in second spot.

Winning their last home game four-nil against Blackburn Rovers the Millers then went on to draw away at Watford while the Blades last game was an exciting three-all in the FA Cup against Wrexham with their last away league game being on New Years Day which saw them draw at Queens Park Rangers.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield ahead of the game, Millers Manager Matt Taylor said that Saturday’s game is an exciting one to be involved in saying, ‘They (Sheffield United) are well drilled and well coached and that explains their position in the table, so credit to everyone there. We will be up against it but we hope to go toe-to-toe with one of the best teams in the league.’

Matt Taylor was busy on transfer deadline day bringing in Bailey Wright from Sunderland, and Domingos Quina from Watford – both on loan – to add the other January signings Conor Coventry, Jordan Hugill, Tariqe Fosu, Sean Morrison and Leo Hjelde. The only one of those who won’t make Saturday is Morrison who picked up an injury in training and needs an operation which will keep him out for the rest of the season. Long term injured Ben Wiles will also be missing and Tom Eaves hasn’t made the progress that was hoped so won’t be in the squad.

Blades Manager Paul Heckingbottom also spoke to Radio Sheffield saying that this is one of the biggest games of the season for the Millers. ‘It’s going to be a tough game,’ Paul said. ‘They (Rotherham) are very direct, really aggressive on second balls and they’ve put balls in behind opponents and we are expecting that type of approach. The atmosphere will be good and it’s going to be a good game to be involved in and a tough game.’

Sheffield United will be without Daniel Jebbson who was red carded in their FA Cup game with Wrexham and will start a three match suspension (Ed Note – bit surprised they aren’t appealing that card to be honest). Injured pair Ciaran Clark and John Fleck are back in training but they are still doubtful for Saturday while James McAtee will be in the travelling squad despite coming off at half-time at the Racecourse Ground. But  George Baldock, Enda Stevens, Rhian Brewster and Rhys Norrington-Davies are still missing.

The referee for this game is Graham Scott from Oxfordshire.
