Rotherham United’s first game of the new year sees Blackpool the visitors to the New York Stadium.

The Millers start this game in third place in League One after an emphatic home win on Sunday against Peterborough with the Seasiders seven places and four points behind. Blackpool drew their away game on Sunday at Tranmere.

Speaking about the visitors, Millers Manager Paul Warne told iFOLLOW, ‘Blackpool are a force this year and although they’ve probably not had the best run of results lately but their performances have been really good.’

Rotherham will be without Clark Robertson who left the pitch with an hernia problem on Sunday but Richard Wood made an able replacement. Also missing is Joe Mattock who got a straight red in the same game and Billy Jones who has a long term injury.

Blackpool goalkeeper Jak Alnwick is out injured but apart from him there are no more new injury problems for Simon Grayson. It could be that ‘Pools new signing, former Miller Grant Ward, could play some part in the game after deciding to go to Bloomfield Road and say ‘no’ to an alleged offer from Rotherham but it’s doubtful with the injuries he’s been suffering and today they’ve made the early signing of Jordan Thorniley from Sheffield Wednesday who could come straight into the squad.

The referee is James Adcock from Nottinghamshire.
