Quick Preview – Millers v Birmingham

|

Rotherham United travel to take on Birmingham City at St Andrew’s Stadium this weekend for their second away league game of the new season.

Like the Millers Birmingham were knocked out of the Carabao Cup at the first time of asking and start the game with four points beating Brentford in their last game at home.

Rotherham are fifteenth in the Championship, nine places below the Blues having won one and lost one of their two league games so far with their last away game being a one-nil win.

Birmingham Manager Aitor Karanka hasn’t got any new injury problems ahead of this weekend and although he has brought in defensive midfielder Mikel San Jose this week from Athletic Bilbao it is doubtful that he will get a start.

The Millers will be without Clark Robertson although he is expected to be in contention for the game next weekend. Richard Wood is back after a rib injury but Trevor Clark has had a set-back in his recovery so won’t be in the travelling squad. And, although he won’t be available for a few weeks, some good news is that Curtis Tilt is back in training.

It goes without saying that Millers Manager Paul Warne will be setting out his team to win this game but he told iFOLLOW that he is expecting a ‘big test’ on Saturday mentioning that he really likes Lukas Jutkiewicz up top and expects him to be a handful while he also expects Rotherham’s midfield to be busy. ‘Aitor Karanka is an experienced Manager at this level,’ the Millers Boss said, ‘and his teams concede very few goals and are very hard to play against. But, we are going to have a right go.’

The Referee for this game is Andy Madeley from West Yorkshire.
