Quick Preview – Millers v Accrington

|

Rotherham United’s second game of the new season sees them in the Carabao Cup first round when Accrington Stanley are the visitors to the New York Stadium.

The Millers come into this game on the back of a two-nil home win and will be hoping to carry that on tonight. Accrington lost their opening game away at Wycombe two-one with the hosts two-up within the first fifteen minutes which Stanley really gifted to them.

Speaking to Radio Sheffield Millers Boss Paul Warne said he knows that Accrington are a good footballing side, saying, ‘They like a switch of play and they’re big and strong at the back and good on set-pieces. We have to try and curb their enthusiasm up front.’

It’s likely that Paul Warne will change some of the starting eleven from Saturday and maybe the players who were on the bench could either start or play some part in the game.

Stanley Manager John Coleman told their Official Sitethat he is an admirer of Paul Warne saying, ‘I like watching Rotherham. We expect them to play a typical Rotherham game and hopefully we can compete better in the early part of the game than we did on Saturday. I want to win every game we play so this game will be no different.’

Accrington have a couple of injuries so it’s likely that John Coleman will have to shuffle his team about a little.

Will Finnie
has the whistle for the first cup game of the season.

On a footnote Warney was asked, due to diminishing crowds in the EFL Cup, was there anything he thinks would make it better received he said, ‘probably making the earlier rounds all local.’
