First placed Rotherham United travel to the London Road Stadium on Saturday to take on Peterborough who are eighth in League One.

The Millers have had a superb January in the league so far winning all three games and coming close in the FA Cup game against Championship Hull City and come into this game on the back of a three-nil home win against Bristol Rovers. Rotherham’s last away game was a three-one win at Oxford with the last away loss being in November at Portsmouth.

Last time out at London Road the Posh beat much fancied Wycombe Wanderers by four goals to nil with their last loss at home coming on Boxing Day when our South Yorkshire neighbours Doncaster Rovers beat them three-nil.

Peterborough have Leicester City loanee Josh Knight back from injury but both Idris Kanu and Conor O’Malley are both still out while the Posh will keep an eye on defender Nathan Thompson.

Peterborough Manager Darren Ferguson says that he can tell the Millers are a former Championship side telling their Official Site, ‘They have pace and power and it is fair to say that we will need to improve our levels again on Saturday.’

Rotherham United’s Assistant Manager Richie Barker told iFOLLOW that there are one or two players who missed out on mid-week training due to a few ‘niggles’ but says that’s not a major issue at this stage of the season. Clark Robertson had a stomach op recently and will be out for some time yet but Joe Mattock has been back in training. Adam Thompson is still out suspended and Billy Jones is still on the sidelines. Jerry Yates was recalled from his loan spell with Swindon Town this week and could be in the travelling squad.

Having played Peterborough at the New York Stadium recently the Millers will hope to know a little about them with Richie Barker saying the Posh have a squad of ‘technically gifted players’ and is expecting goals in the game saying, ‘we are going to go and try and win the game.’ Richie went on to talk about the travelling Millers fans and said, ‘since I came here the away fans have always been excellent and when you are backed with that many fans it’s no coincidence that we have the best away record in the league. They were excellent in the Oxford game and, from a personal point of view I’d like to thank every one of them for helping me through that game and my tough times which is something that will stay with me a long time.’

The man with the whistle on Saturday is Scott Oldham from Lancashire.
