Rotherham United’s last game in March sees Shrewsbury Town the visitors to the New York Stadium on Saturday.

The Millers are sitting happily at the top of League One, seven points better off than MK Dons in third place while Shrewsbury are in seventeenth place and nine points above Gillingham in the last of the relegation places.

Throughout March Rotherham have got five points getting back to winning ways on Tuesday against Lincoln City at home after two away goalless draws, the first at the Greenhous Meadow at the start of the month, and a rare home loss to MK Dons.

Shrewsbury come into this game on the back of a five-nil home win against Morecambe in mid-week and, like the Millers, have had two goalless draws, the last one away at Cambridge, and a home loss.

Millers Boss Paul Warne told the Official Site that the Shrews will come with a boost after their five-nil win on Tuesday saying, ‘They have taken points off some really good teams. When we played them earlier this month we were good in the first half but they were better in the second. There are no easy games and they will come here without fear. We need to have that same mentality and put in a performance that will give us the chance of getting a good result.’

There are faint hopes that both Dan Barlaser and Ollie Rathbone, who were subbed in the win over Lincoln, will have shook off their injuries and be fit for this game. But it has come too early for Freddie Ladapo who is suffering a quad injury although Georgie Kelly could be in the match day squad with the possibility of making his debut from the bench. There might be good news regarding Jamie Lindsay who has been suffering a shoulder injury too.

Speaking to their Official Site Shrews Manager Steve Cotterill said that Rotherham are a ‘good, honest team’ saying, ‘we know they’ve got a few injuries which is no different to what we’ve had throughout the season. But they are top of the league and we know it’s going to be another tough game. But we have a lot of optimism going into it but with that comes a warning that they will be ready this time but if we can put in a ninety minutes performance like we did in the second half against them we will be OK.’

Steve Cotterill has no new injury worries ahead of this game.

The referee for this game is Anthony Backhouse from Cumbria.

Well yet again we fall to lower opposition just when it matters. Shrewsbury create everything through George Friend and he should have been marked out of the game. Its now very worrying that we’ve lost points and our excellent goal difference is evaporating. We need to find goals and fast!! It seems to have gone quiet on Ladapo and Kelly injuries. What a time to lose them when the next few weeks sees 2 games a week. Let’s hope our physios can work wonders. The Wembley trip is now a real distraction and it’s a shame it couldn’t have been played after the season ends. Hopefully as usual McDonald’s red card will be rescinded but the referees decision cost us valuable points and goal difference. That’s the real shame.

I think we just went to pieces today Bryan – we didn’t start well and, frankly in my opinion, got worse. It was into the eighty minutes when we had a shot on goal. I know it’s difficult with ten men (look at MK Dons . . . oh, well, maybe not) but we just didn’t put up a fight did we. As you say, we probably could have done without the Wembley game. I doubt the red card will be rescinded but you never know.
