Head to Head

Quick Preview – Millers At Home To Brentford

|

Rotherham United take on Brentford in this live TV Championship game at the New York Stadium.

The Millers come into this one on the back of a two-all draw with much fancied to go straight back into the Premier League Bournemouth while Brentford won their home derby game against Queens Park Rangers two-one at the weekend.

The Bees didn’t lose a game throughout November drawing three and winning two with their last away game being a one-nil win at Oakwell which sees them just outside a play-off place in the table. The Millers lie nineteenth in the table and had a mixed bag if scores last month losing three, winning one and drawing on Saturday with the ones they lost being just by the one goal.

Paul Warne will be without suspended central defender Michael Ihiekwe who got his fifth booking of the season on Saturday and while the natural replacement would be Richard Wood he only has a slim chance of making the game while Matthew Olosunde is also doubt for tonight.

Millers Boss Paul Warne spoke to Radio Sheffield saying that although it’s a ‘blow’ Ihiekwe being out tonight it isn’t a ‘massive drama’. Speaking about this evening’s opponents the Gaffer said, ‘Brentford are really well coached, well organised and are a danger from set-pieces. I think they are definitely a top six team.’

Brentford will assess right-back Henrik Dalsgaard who was subbed at half-time in their win over QPR with a hip problem. But apart from that the Bees are injury free.

Speaking to their Official Site Bees Manager Thomas Frank praised Paul Warne saying that the Millers have a ‘good strategy’. ‘Rotherham are high pressing and very aggressive, and are very good at it,’ he said, ‘They don’t only try and play long ball, they try to pass it when they can and play relatively direct. On the ball is where we need to show our quality and some personality.’

Tim Robinson from West Sussex is tonight’s referee.
