Rotherham United are in Cup action this evening when Crewe Alexandra are the visitors to the New York Stadium in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Coming into this game on the back of a one-nil loss away at Exeter at the weekend the Millers will want to get their season up and running with a win tonight.
Likewise Crewe who were also one-nil losers away to Barrow on Saturday.
Crewe Manager Lee Bell was ‘frustrated’ after their loss at the weekend but said their were ‘loads of positives’ to take out of the game.
Steve Evans said that the Millers didn’t take their chances at Exeter and it was ‘sloppy defending’ to give the goal away saying ‘we will have to learn from today and learn quickly.’
It’s likely that Millers Manager will change things round for this game and he could have Zak Jules available after the defender missed the game at St James Park through illness while Liam Kelly and and Shaun McWilliams could be in the squad after recovering from knocks. And who will start in goal? Well, it could be that Cameron Dawson gets the nod, but nothing is certain.
Alex have brought in Kian Breckin on loan from Manchester City (son of Ian, great nephew of John) and it’s certain that the midfielder will be in the travelling squad.
Referee for this game isĀ Scott Oldham from Lancashire.
