Rotherham United Manager Paul Warne led his team to victory at Wembley yesterday taking them back into the Championship just a year after they left it.

After beating Shrewsbury two-one the Millers Boss spoke to Radio Sheffield.

Asked how he felt, Warney understated his emotions saying, ‘Pretty good.’

Pretty good, Warney? Pretty good???

‘I only take a small proportion of the credit’ the Millers Boss carried on, ‘my backroom staff have worked tirelessly and we’ve talked about nothing else for the last year.

‘And the lads have been excellent. I dropped two players today who have been a big part of it and they took it brilliantly, their attitude was unbelievable.

‘I thought we started the game really well, contained them to few chances and maybe the penalty came too early in the game. They equalised and I was worried that we might wilt and I thought their ‘keeper made a few great saves.

‘In extra time I tried to gee the fans up because it doesn’t half help if you’re running and you’re tired to have people geeing you on.’

Richard Wood scored both goals in yesterday’s win, the first time he’s a) played at Wembley and b) scored two goals in one game in his career.

‘He’s done alright the wrecking ball hasn’t he,’ Warney said. ‘He put his body in at set-pieces. Just prior to his second goal we were considering taking him off because he was hobbling and wobbling. Then he scored and ran sixty meters flat out so I decided he was in good fettle. It’s great for Woody and I couldn’t be happier for him.

‘I usually wish I was out their playing but I didn’t today. It was ridiculously hot. I’m really proud of the group.’
