Preview – Millers v Blues

|

Rotherham United make their seventeenth league visit to St Andrew’s this afternoon when they take on Birmingham City in the last Championship game before the International break.

The Millers make the trip on the back of two home draws while the Blues are still waiting for their first home win of the season. Rotherham are yet to take any points from away games this season with them losing their last away game to a penalty in the last four minutes to Nottingham Forest. City’s last home game saw them come from two down to get a point against Ipswich Town.

Birmingham will have Maikel Kieftenbeld available after his red card in midweek was overturned but missing from the bench is Manager Garry Monk who serves a one match ban after being sent to the stands in the same game. The Blues will also be without long term injured pair Isaac Vassell and David Davis.

Speaking to iFOLLOW Millers Boss Paul Warne is obviously hoping to pick up points today, saying his lads are getting more and more confident as the games go on, but is also wary that the last two Managers to take a Rotherham team to St Andrew’s were sacked straight afterwards!

It looks like the optimism of having injured players back might not be quite the case with the Millers possibly again down to the bare bones going into this game. Skipper Richard Wood won’t make it after breaking down in the warm-up on Wednesday night and it’s not known if Kyle Vassell or Richie Towell will be fit. Zak Vyner will be back after having to sit it out in midweek against his parent club.

The referee for this game is Keith Stroud from Hampshire.

Rotherham United fans are able to buy tickets at the ground this afternoon. It will be cash only with no increase in price.
