Preston North End v Rotherham Stats

Rotherham United got their third away win of 2021 this afternoon at a very cold, wet Deepdale by beating Preston North End by two goals to one.

The game might not have been the prettiest but the three points sees the Millers now out of the relegation zone into twentieth place with still a game in hand on most of the teams below us.

The stats show that the hosts had the majority of possession – sixty per cent to forty – and won most of the duels, fifty-six per cent of them while also having five corners to Rotherham’s three. The passing accuracy in the opponents half came out at fifty-four per cent to the Millers with the Lilywhites getting five per cent more.

Paul Warne’s men had fifteen shots at goal this afternoon, five being on target while Preston North End had six on target from fourteen shots while the Millers success rate on tackles was fifty per cent. The visitors conceded fifteen fouls and Preston North End nine with the hosts having one yellow card to Rotherham’s three.

I can’t say I was over impressed with Referee Gavin Ward or his associates running the line – surely it’s about time that we remembered flags are for flagging and not for hanging down by your side when there is an incident not ten inches away from you expecting the referee who is ten yards away to make the decision.
