Rotherham United’s new recruit Lee Peltier told iFollow one of the reasons he joined the Millers was the ‘good atmosphere’.
Speaking after signing on for a year the defender said the move happened quickly with him finding out the middle of last week that Paul Warne was interested in him. ‘I came up, had a chat with the Manager and met the lads then over the weekend things really progressed. It’s a young squad but very enthusiastic and there’s a lot of energy in the training room with lads who want to do well. I was really impressed and, to be fair, I was buzzing to get it over the line.
‘I’ve known the gaffer many, many years from when I first started my career with Yeovil and we always kept in contact. He’s a great fellow, absolutely fantastic guy. We had a chat about the old times but then about what he wanted and expected from me and I felt that was something I wanted to be part of. I’m looking forward to playing for him.
‘We all know the Championship is a tough league and I think it’s going to be tougher still this year with the teams that’s come and down and come up. It’s going to be a very competitive league and I think we are going to be in a good place to challenge and do what we need to do.
‘I played a lot for Middlesbrough last year and we just missed out on the play-offs but I’ve still got a lot to give and I’m looking forward to the new challenge. I’ve been around in this league for many years and I think I can add a lot of experience to the team and leadership. I’m very competitive and aggressive, hate losing, love battles and I just want to get out there and show what I can do.’
It wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t do just that at the weekend, whether from the start or off the bench, I imagine he’ll be part of the match day squad.
