Papa John’s Trophy Stats – Millers v U’s

|

Rotherham United got through on penalties to the semi-finals of the Papa John’s Trophy this evening at the New York Stadium.

But what do the stats say?

Firstly they tell us that the game was pretty even with both Rotherham and Cambridge having fifty per cent of possession each. The Millers had eight corners to the U’s two while the visitors won fifty-nine per cent of all duels.

Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at sixty-three per cent with our crossing accuracy being twenty-eight per cent. Defence wise the Millers tackles success was seventy-three per cent while we conceded ten fouls to our visitors seven. The only yellow of the night was an early one for Rotherham’s Wes Harding.

Attack wise we had seventeen shots, three of those from outside the box, with just three of those being on target – though I actually find that a little hard to believe. Cambridge had three on target from eleven shots.

Once again we really do have to make more of those shots, although I did think there were two or three today that, on another day, might have crept in.  Back to the league on Saturday and a trip to Crewe.
