Papa John’s Trophy Stats – Millers v Railwaymen

Rotherham United scored four goals this evening away against Crewe Alexandra to get through to the next round of the Papa John’s Trophy.

But what do those stats say?

The Millers had fifty-four per cent of possession this evening, had five corners to the hosts two and won fifty-seven per cent of the aerial duels, which, at half-time, Crewe were ahead in. Our passing accuracy in our opponents half came out at sixty-seven per cent while we had thirty-one crosses in to the Alex’s eight.

Attack wise we had seventeen shots at goal of which ten were on target with eight of those being outside the box while Crewe had four on target from six shots. We conceded seventeen fouls to Crewe’s six with both teams having a player yellow carded.

Good to see some of the ‘fringe’ players getting a run out today and I don’t think any of them disgraced themselves. I was actually surprised that JJ didn’t start in place of Smith but I’m made up for the lad that he’s got to score coming off the bench.

I’m saying this quietly but we are actually in danger of an early Wembley visit this season . . . .
