Rotherham United have signed French left winger Julien Lamy – subject to international clearance, FA and EFL ratification – and will become a Millers player officially on Monday (1st July).

Born in Paris the nineteen year old has had trials with the Millers, playing in two reserve games,  but due to FIFA regulations couldn’t sign until the season was at an end.

Having previously had trials with West Bromwich Albion, who he recently made an appearance in an U23 game for against a Norwich City U23 side, and Nottingham Forest Julien previously had a short youth spell with Brest but has been without a club since leaving Plabennec, of the French Fourth Division, at the end of the 2017/18 season.

Rotherham Manager Paul Warne told the Official Site that Julien has ‘raw material’ and that his attitude is ‘spot on’.

‘Julien can play anywhere across the front three or anywhere in midfield.’ sdaid Warney, ‘so hopefully with a bit of work, he’ll turn into what we want him to be. I think he’s still a development project and in fairness to him, it is some step from where he’s come. Even just having full-time training is going to take it’s toll on him.’

Ed Note – I actually met the lad a few weeks ago in the shop and although we spoke just a few words he seems a very nice lad and also seemed excited to be here.

All at Vital Rotherham welcome Julien to the New York Stadium.

Meanwhile, as expected, Will Vaulks has joined Cardiff City, signing a three year deal.

Since joining the Millers in the summer of 2016 Will has been a firm favourite with the Rotherham fans and we will all be sad to see him go but, we also understand.

Born in Merseyside the twenty-five year old qualifies to play for Wales through his mother with his stunning goal against Wolverhampton Wanderers in August 2016 being voted the Goal of the Season while he was Player of the Season in 2017/18. In April the EFL awarded Will the PFA Player in the Community for his work with Children’s Hospice Bluebell Wood.

Will has made one hundred and thirty-seven appearances in a Rotherham shirt scoring seventeen goals of which eight came this season including one against Premier League side Everton in the League Cup delighting the travelling Millers fans with his back-flip goal celebration.

Here at Vital Rotherham we thank Will for what he’s done not only for the club but also for the town and wish him ‘all the best’ in his future.
